The Cuba: Capitanía General Collection consists of "bandos" (edicts), royal decrees, and official forms from 1896-1898 published during the governments of Valeriano Weyler and Ramón Blanco, Captain Generals of the Island of Cuba. Weyler was a central figure in Cubas War of Independence against Spain, known for his relocation of all Cubans living in the country or outside fortified areas into "reconcentration camps" in towns and cities occupied by Spanish troops in an effort to separate rebel forces from civilians and suppress the popular support of insurgents.

The collection consists of 24 "bandos" issued by Weyler and Blanco and 22 folders containing the "Reales Ordenes" and official forms.
