COURSE OUTLINE
CHARACTERIZATION
TPP1170
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course is the preparatory work on a role, divided into three major periods:
1. Studying the role
2. Establishing the life of the role
3. Putting the role into physical form
OBJECTIVES:
The purpose of this course is to help the student-actor use a subjective approach to create a character which differs from him/her physically, culturally and psychologically. Character analysis will be required to study in detail and prepare given circumstances for a play or part so that through them, later on in the creative process, the student-actor’s emotions will instinctively be sincere and his/her feelings true to life. The characterization skills are developed through acting exercises in which greater degree of transformation is emphasized.
