1:15 CD was born in Cuba . Parents were from Spain . 1:49 The parents were separated for 16 years when CD’s father moved to Cuba . He lost everything he had during the 1920s depression . He owned a cafe . Cooking is a big tradition in his family . 5:07 CD was 16 when she her husband (AD’s father) . He was studying medicine in Havana . They married in 1944 . 7:43 When Fidel Castro took over the Cuban goverment , CD’s husband protested . He had to seek asylum through the Ecuadorian embassy . CD was separated from her husband and had no idea where he was or what was going to happen . 10:39 In 1962 they were allowed to leave Cuba . 11:06 CD’s best memory was the day she was reunited with her husband in USA . 12:09 They moved to Tennessee and CDs husband worked at a mental hospital . 12:50 CD and her family moved to Houston where her husband started his practice . 13:43 CD remembers the Americans were very helpful when she moved to USA . They gave them clothes , furniture , and plane tickets . 16:16 When CD left Cuba , they had to leave everything behind .
