IN LATIN AMERICA
Press reports from Rio say that Condor do Brasil faces a shutdown despite the Brazilian Government’s efforts to prove that the airline is completely nationalized, with all connections broken with its parent line Lufthansa. Despite these efforts, Condor still remains on the American blacklist and is therefore unable to secure any gasoline. According to reports, Condor’s entire capital includes 23 planes and some three and a half million dollars in other holdings supposedly owned by Lufthansa.
Effective May 1st DC3 schedules between Miami and San Juan will begin serving Ciudad Trujillo.
Eastern Division communications will soon begin installing radio stations at St. Lucia, Georgetown.
President Trippe and Vice Presidents Bixby, Pryor and Ingalls, inspected PAA installations in Miami yesterday and attended last night's graduation ceremonies of the latest class of PAA Ferries pilots.
IN WASHINGTON
The CAA anticipates the loss of approximately 900 of its 1,300 employees to the military services.
The Aeronautical Chamber of Commerce announced the appointments of Ronald Gall, formerly with Brewster Aero Corp., and John Ingram as new Assistant Publicity Manager.
ON THE PACIFIC
Among recent Clipper arrivals from Hawaii was Admiral Nimitz, en route to Washington. Passenger list also included a large group of Consolidated Bomber ferry pilots, many of whom are now returning to the U.S. by Clipper.
