IN WASHINGTON
Penn Central Airlines announced that it has been authorized by the Army Air Forces to conduct a 3,000-mile air cargo service to connect by daily schedules leading Army Air Corps depots in the east and south.
The Army Air Forces have asked the Civil Aeronautics Authority to supply 2,000 civilian flight instructors for duty at Army flying fields within the next sixty days.
It is reported that several leading trunkline railroads are planning to enter the air cargo field. An announcement may possibly appear next week.
The Senate Commerce Committee has reported out the Bill, already passed by the House, which would increase pilots' maximum flying hours from 85 to 100 a month.
ON THE PACIFIC
Among passengers on the latest arrival from Hawaii was Assistant Secretary of Commerce Robert Hinckley.
In the campaign to acquaint those employes not participating,with the advantages of PAA Group Insurance, 226 were interviewed, resulting in a total of 144 new applications. Of the remainder, 29 declined,5have been interned 45 are unlikely to participate, and three left the company during the survey.
