SELF WINDING CLOCKS
We are having another epidemic of damaged self winding clocks during shipping. Please refer to Fault Shaker Bulletin #46 dated November 14, 1952.
Examination of the wreckage points to the fact that all of this damage is due to faulty packing.
Most of the damage occurs because the clock pendulum is not tied down firmly during preparation for transportation. This pendulum is heavy, and when it goes adrift inside the clock case the damage to the mechanism is extensive.
Please, whenever you have occasion to ship these clocks make very sure that the pendulum is very secure. Ranove the batteries. The special packing case provided will furnish adequate protection if preliminary packing precautions are taken. Follow packing instructions contained in the special box used for shipping clocks.
Remember, your station is charged with repairs to these clocks.
PAA CORRESPONDENCE COURSE
There is available a correspondence course furnished by PAA in elementary electricity. It may be had in either Spanish or English. This is being handled through the Ground Training School, but anyone interested in taking this course is requested to write to the Division Communications Superintendent and the request will be handled by Communications. There is no charge for the course, and full instructions for examinations etc. are furnished with the first lesson. Here is a good chance to brush up on electrical theory and probably learn a few things.
