GROUND RADIO BULLETIN NO. 20 - DECEMBER 15, 1949 COMMS. DEPT. L.A.D.
BOGEN INTERPHONE PROPERTY TAG LOCATION
At some stations it has been noticed that the brass PAA property number tags have been attached either to the rear or bottom cardboard dust protectors. When these are removed for servicing the unit, they are sometimes not replaced and become lost together with the property tag.
To avoid this, everyone is requested to look at their interphone equipment« If the unit has a PAA property tag, the tag should be fastened to the metal chassis of the interphone unit« The preferred location is on the rear edge of the chassis at left end« Please place the tag at this point before it has a chance to become lost.
4WTFA HV INSULATORS
The Ground Radio Shop has had a few cases and, more recently, Station Mechanic Buchanan of SJU has reported two cases where the high voltage has arced across the feed-thru insulators in the I4WTFA transmitters. These insulators are located on the rear of the RF, modulator, and power supply chassis. In most cases the arcing has taken place between the center of the feed-thru bolt, and the chassis and the insulator is burned in the center. The arcing may not be seen but is apparent because the transmitter continues to blow fuses for no apparent reason. These insulators should all be taken apart for inspection whenever a periodic overhaul is made or whenever continuous fuse blowing is occurring. The replacement insulator has PAA #81814-7511. These insulators will be added to the Spare Parts Kits during a future revision.
