R.F. METERS
It is noted that a considerable number of aerophare tuning unit meters, and meters in the meter and relay boxes are being replaced due to lightning pickup on the tower.
Standard practice is to shunt all such meters to avoid as much as possible such meter damage.
Please examine your equipment for proper meter shunting and if the shunts are not in place they should be added. #10 copper wire makes good shunting material.
The shunts can be removed for tuning adjustments of course. For meter readings either remove the shunt momentarily, or if the shunt - no shunt meter reading difference is observed, the residual meter reading with the shunt in place can be used for an operating standard by mentally adding the amount of current lost from the meter in the shunt.
In the interest of economy, and to assure a continuous circuit if the meter becomes open, these shunts are important.
