GROUND RADIO BULLETIN NO. 45 - NOVEMBER 14, 1952 COMMS. DEPT. L.A.D.
SPARE PARTS
Recently an analysis was made to compile cost figures relative to the expenses involved by supplying each station with spare part kits.
There are three classes of kits issued to stations. Class One: aerophare stations (13), Class Two: average line stations (9), Class Three: large line stations (7). The class two and three stations include an aerophare facility. The figures in parenthesis indicate the number of stations in each class.
The cost of these kits are shown as:
Class 1 $362.82
" 2 $1,067.82
" 3 $2,330.25
In addition there are supplementary kits which sometimes approach the cost of a class one kit, and in two instances actually exceeds this cost.
The total cost of all Kits including supplementaries for the Division Totals $37,293.84.
With the above information it is desired to acknowledge the good conditions generally found during inspections relating to the proper storage, protection from loss, and cooperation in keeping the kits in up to date condition.
MICROPHONE BOOMS
Most stations use microphone booms at the aircraft positions. The mechanical section of this boom develops trouble off and on. Sometimes the trouble can be rectified at the station, and this should be continued. When it is not possible to make repairs due to lack of parts or tools, the unit can now be handled by the Ground Radio Shop in Miami, Request a replacement boom in the usual manner, and when the replacement arrives, ship the defective unit to Miami.
