GROUND RADIO BULLETIN NO. 27 - SEPTEMBER 11, 1950 COMMS. DEPT. L.A.D.
TELETYPE PUNCH BLOCKS
Very few worn out punch blocks have been returned from stations having typing reperforators or perforator-transmitters. These punch blocks cost approximately $30.00 new but can be overhauled and rebuilt at a fraction of this cost. The proper procedure is to return them to the Ground Radio Shop, Miami, marked "No Charge-No Credit". Your station will be credited with the cost of a new punch block less the repair costs on the old one. A replacement punch block should be requisitioned in the normal manner.
DAP NO. 2 THERMO RELAY MODIFICATION
The Model 3-112 DAP-2 Thermo Relay Modification is no longer required on this control unit. The original purpose of the modification was to prevent the overheating of the toggle relay solenoid. The thermo relay proved to be erratic and unreliable, causing more trouble than was desirable.
All parts related to this modification should be removed from the DAP-2 unit. This includes the thermo relay tube, socket, bracket, and condenser. The circuit should be restored as shown in manual Drawing GEN--3C-112-4. This will consist of reestablishing a circuit direct from Terminal #11 on the Terminal block to the toggle relay solenoid which at present passes thru the thermo relay tube.
The parts from the modification are of no value and should be disposed of.
