GROUND RADIO BULLETIN NO. 21 - JANUARY 26, 1949 COMMS. DEPT. L.A.D.
SPARE PARTS KITS
From various reports received, it seems that there may be certain spare part kit items that should be increased in quantity on the kit list# Specifically we are referring to tubes - RK-65, RX-21-A, 807, and 6BA6# There may be other items.
The men at the line stations are the ones most concerned with lack of spares, and are in the best position to know actual requirements. Consequently, your comments and suggestions will be very welcome in reviewing these kits which have now been in use for about a year in their present form.
Please write the DCS office advising any items you would like to see increased or added to the list, stating your full reasons for the changes. Possibly the kit allowances are satisfactory, but the time lag between requisitioning and receipt of an item may introduce shortages.
We’ll be glad to have your comments.
EQUIPMENT OVERHAUL
Please reread Ground Radio Maintenance Manual Dwg. GEN-26A-935-2. Receiver overhauls are now under way with exchange of equipment in progress at some stations. Because of the limited number of receivers available for the entire program, the speed at which overhaul exchanges can be made depends on the promptness of handling throughout every phase.
AH stations are asked to help in this respect by making a receiver change as quickly as possible. When you get an overhauled receiver, or any piece of equipment, please remove it from the packing case immediately, repack the item to be returned for overhaul at the same time, and get the unit started on its way back to Miami. If no unit is to be returned, see that the empty packing case is speeded on its way.
Also, toward increasing the receiver pool in the Ground Radio Shop for these overhauls, please review periodically your receiver requirements with the idea of returning to Miami any equipment not actually needed for station operation.
