Paris Joins London On Polar Scheds By Jay Beau-Seigneur , A Solution for Some Problems United States Government ap proval of Braniff International’s acquisition of Pan AmericanGrace Airways would solve the problems created by three U.S. airlines serving South America, but would not necessarily result in the soundest U.S. - South American route pattern, accord ing to Harold E. Gray, P resident of Pan American. Testifying a t Civil Aeronau tics Board hearings in W ashing ton on B raniff’s acquisition of Panagra, Captain Gray made clear th a t Pan Am endorses the acquisition agreem ents only be cause they solve the three-carrier problem. “We do not endorse them for any other reason. We do not be lieve th a t the resulting route p at tern is the soundest or the best th a t can be developed, and we in tend to request modifications at the appropriate tim e,” Captain Gray stated. According to C aptain Gray, while the acquisition agreem ent Beginning August 1, Pan Am’s Polar Flight pas^ngCjL’s from California will have a choice of destinations: London or Paris. Four weekly round-trips will serve both cities. SAN FRANCISCO — Cindy Goodrich (36-24-36), SFObased stewardess, has been named “Photo Queen of Northern California” in an annual competition spon sored by camera clubs in Northern California and the Bay Area. She was chosen by a group of 13 expert judges and if Scheduling is kind to her this month, will journey to Southern Cali fornia where she will com pete for the State title. This in turn could lead to some thing called the Interna tional Beauty Contest. BERLIN— More passengers p re fer the Duesenflugzeug when flying in Germ any th an any other a irp la n e ! Duesenflugzeug is the nicknam e th a t our In tern al German Service passengers have given th e new Boeing 727 tri-jets, w hich will replace all of the piston DC6B’s in the IGS fleet by Septem ber. And do they really like those j e t s ! In A pril, th e first m onth the first 727 w ent into service on the B erlin -F ran k fu rt service, total passengers carried equalled 33,835, up nearly 4,000 from A pril 1965. In May, again between B E R /FR A , our new 727’s carried 37,545 passengers, an increase of 4,493 over May, 1965. All nine IGS stations, including. W est Berlin, rep o rt pas senger traffic up by 20,685 passengers th is May as com pared to May a year ago. C urrently we have th ree 727’s operating B erlin to F ra n k fu rt, Berlin to H am burg, B erlin to S tu ttg a rt and B erlin to D usseldorf. Clark, fa th e r of three, will perform his first official act as school board m em ber by handing out diplomas a t the Eau Callie H igh School commencement exercises. “I ’m really looking forw ard to it,” he says.
