DEAN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP A scholarship award to enter Yale University in the Fall of 1956 will be made to the son of a PAA coemp. The amount will be $600. The Howard B. Dean Memorial Scholarship is given every other yea to a boy chosen for admission to the Freshman year at Yale University. He must meet Yale’s entrance requirements. Each student awarded the scholarship for the Freshman year may renew the award in each of his years in Yale College or the School of Engineering if average scholarship standing and good conduct are maintained. Yale College offers courses in the liberal arts and sciences leading to a degree of Bach- elor of Arts or Bachelor of Science. The Schools of Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Metallurgy award the degree of Bachelor of Engineering. A course in Industrial Administration is also offered leading to a degree of Bachelor of Science. Boys awarded these scholarships are expected to meet a part of their expenses through part-time work at Yale University. Changes include: Fred Werry to Manager, Facilities Engineering, John Blue to Manager, Plant Maintenance, Robert T. Beck to Assistant Superintendent, Logistic Planning, C. P. Carman to Superintendent, Facilities Planning, Facilities Engineering, and Vernon Dicks to Superintendent, Plant Engineering, Facilities Engineering.---------- The newly created Facilities Engineering department includes Plant Engineering Section, transferred from the former Plant Engineering Department and Facilities Planning Section which was transferred from Logistics Planning. Fred Werry became associated with PAA in April 1955 as Planning Engineer. He was promoted to Supervisor of Facilities Planning, and at present holds the new title of Man-(continued on page 3) NEW PAA SERVICE TO LINK PANAMA, JAMAICA, MIAMI A new direct air tourist service was offered travelers between Panama City, Kingston, Jamaica, and Miami in December, when Pan American World Airways linked the three cities with six flights a week. Southbound flights depart from Miami at 7:15 a.m. on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday, arriving in Kingston at 10:30 a.m. and in Panama at 2:15. p.m. PAA ASSISTS TRAVEL FILM PRODUCTION Millions of U. S. television watchers soon will be seeing the ruggedly beautiful scenery of Mexico, Central and South America thanks to Pan American World Airways and the National Broadcasting Company. A series of coast to coast programs starring Arthur Lake of “Blondie and Dag-wood” screen fame will be shown thrice-weekly for a 13-week period. A humorous travelogue, the “Meet the Family” series depicts Lake as a representative of a travel agency who gets into amusing difficulties while exploring the attractions of Latin America to arrange thrifty tours for his U. S. clients. Background material for the script writers, filming arrangements, air transportation, airplanes and personnel were supplied by Pan American. Shooting was completed in Central America and the Caribbean before Christmas, leaving Colombia, Venezuela, Brazil and Uruguay to be photographed in January and February.
