( Aft ‘ .y Vol. 4, No. 19 Par Aa/frlcar World Alrwavs PACIFIC-ALASKA DIVISION WLfPPEff Read From California to Calcutta, From Alaska to Australia Copyright 1948 by Pan American Airways, Inc. PUBLISHED BY THE EMPLOYES OF PAN AMERICAN WORLD AIRWAYS December 24, 1948 To Officials and Personnel of Pan American World Airways: Now as another Christmas draws near I want to extend the season’s greetings to all in the Pan American family. Together we have gone through another difficult year in our industry. Teamwork has again paid off. Thanks to close cooperation among officials and personnel all along the line, Pan American is still ivorld leader in air transportation. The significance of this job well done far exceeds the interests of our own company. Our success contributes directly to our country’s leadership in international civil aviation and to the strengthening of U. S. air power during a critical period. It also contributes very directly to our national policy for world recovery on which our hopes for peace must finally rest. The coming year will continue to present grave problems for our industry. I am sure, however, that we of Pan American will be able to make even greater contributions. In addition to teamwork and know-how, which are our greatest assets, we will be flying the largest fleet of the most advanced type of commercial aircraft anywhere in the world. Best wishes to you all for Christmas and the New Year. Juan T. Trippe The confidence expressed a year ago in the Pacific-Alaska Division’s ability to make an even more outstanding reputation for itself in World airlines operations, has been more than justified by results achieved in 1948. These results can only be attributed to the collective skill, hard work and enthusiasm of all members of the PAD Team and the helpful work of our System Offices. A feeling of deep satisfaction and pride on the part of each member of the team is certainly justifiable. I am personally grateful for the splendid cooperation which made our 1948 performance possible and wish each of you and your families a happy Christmas season and the best of everything during the new year. H. E. Gray Now Another Item Is Taken Out of Your Poor Paycheck Don’t look for anything extra in your next paycheck! We mean, don’t expect to find the monthly PAD schedule enclosed with it as heretofore. In the future these monthly ime tables will be distributed in the same manner as the Clipper. They will be enclosed along with the Clipper for those receiving the Clipper by mail. Sales Manager Fessio Returns From Alaskan Route Hearings Joe Fessio, Manager, Sales, for the Pacific-Alaska Division, has recently returned to San Francisco after a series of trips in connection with the case now being considered by the C.A.B. in regard to Pan American’s extension of its Alaskan routes down the* Pacific coast to Los Angeles. His travels while working on this took him to Anchorage, Alaska, and to Washington, D. C. Trading Post Getting Some More Room in SFO Cafeteria The Panair Trading Post is finally getting that much needed more room. Carpenters are working in the cafeteria on the Post’s expansion project, and although it came too late to adequately handle the Christmas rush, the new space will be ready for use by the first of the year. According to A1 Farnocchia, 1949 will see a far greater variety of items available than ever before. Just a Minute—Are You RH Positive or Negative? The San Francisco Medical De-parment has just announced that it now has available the latest information, written in the layman’s language, on the “RH Blood Factor.” Anyone interested in learning more about this subject is invited to drop by Medical, where they may read the pamphlet.
