Four Star Comedy A capsule synopsis of “Dear Ruth” goes something like this—Lorraine Cassin as the teen-aged sister of Marie Zang has been writing overseas to soldier George Dorland to “build his morale”—and has used Marie’s name and photograph. Dorland returns to claim Marie, who is engaged to stuffed-shirt Ernest Lindemann. That Marie is on such familiar terms with George is news to her parents, Paul Stickney and Mary Farrell . . . not to mention of course Marie’s complete befuddlement about the whole thing. Under the direction of Mildred Cassel and Terry Diven, the cast gives this splendid story excellent treatment. VASO
