® AIRPORT SERVICE •In an effort to increase Pan Am's share of the Japanese market, the Japanese Family Travel Service will be implemented in NYC, SFO, LAX, HNL, OSA, and TYO on June 1. Expanded service to Osaka and the entry of Northwest into the non-stop Tokyo market makes this a timely undertaking. The objective is to reassure non-english speaking Japanese families traveling to/from Japan that we can meet their needs. Advertisements in the JA community will announce the service. •All DCS stations now have the capability to thru check passengers connecting at HNL for flights 841 and 811. •Operations and Ramp Service has prepared a booklet entitled "DCS and You" which provides field locations with information and guidance pertaining to IATA DCS messages and forms. •Easy-Trac, a primary baggage tracing tool, will undergo major improvements on July 1, providing the capability to log into the system all unclaimed baggage or baggage not traveling with the passenger (i.e.missed connection). •The Appearance Standards policy for ground personnel has been revised and will be distributed during the month of June. 0 RESERVATION SALES •An SOS is going out to all Reservations Sales Agents. The SELL OUR SEATS message will be delivered through a series of 30 minute briefing sessions which stress the importance of selling an extra seat and the sales techniques required. The objective: Sell Up - Sell Beyond Sell Return. •Pan Am Helicopter service between the 60th Street Manhattan Heliport and JFK will be available for FC and CC passengers connecting to/from Pan Am flights. Helicopter, FC, and CC passengers will be able to check in at the Vanderbilt ticket office. Service begins JuneM, 1982. •New boarding cards, to be distributed shortly, will be provided to Pan Am at no cost in exchange for advertising space. This represents a first year savings of approximately $80,000. • IN-FLIGHT SERVICE ®Pre-departure drinks are now being served in First Class on all domestic flights. Orange Juice and champagne is served on wide body aircraft and soft drinks/cocktails are served on narrow body aircraft. This service will be expanded to include Clipper Class and will become a systemwide service feature on July 1. •In-Flight announcements have been revised and shortened to provide more concise messages in-flight. •747 and 747SP aircraft will be modified to increase the pitch of Clipper Class seats to 38" and 37" respectively, providing a 33 degree recline. The new configurations will be: 747 - 31/32/327 (329) 747SP - 47/56/140 •Transcontinental and NYC/IAH flights will continue to feature movies and audio, however, movies have been discontinued on all other domestic flights. •The "theme music" used in Pan Am's new commercials will now be featured as boarding music. % DINING SERVICE • Effective July 1 provisioning of First Class and Clipper Class amenity kits will be standardized to include all flights over four hours. At the same time a new unisex "utility kit" will be introduced in First Class. • The Duty Free Sales program featured on Miami/transatlantic flights will be upgraded effective July 1, reflecting prestigious liquor brands, new perfumes and new fragrences for men, and designer accessories. A new brochure will be available for passengers and passengers purchasing goods will receive a complimentary shopping bag.
