Luis J. Botifoll Oral History Project Interview with Rev. Martín Añorga Miami, Florida, November 5, 2009 Interview 5212.0017 Interviewed by Julio Estorino Recorded by José Gastón Outline by Julio Estorino and Brittney Bomnin Interview with Reverend Martín N. Añorga, minister and educator who founded La Progresiva Presbyterian School in Miami. The school was originally founded in Cardenas, Cuba, in 1900 by Dr. Robert I. Wharton, but was taken over by the Castro regime in 1961. The First Spanish United Presbyterian Church of Miami and the Association of Alumni of La Progresiva worked together to re-open the school in Miami in 1971 to serve the congregation's growing Hispanic community. This interview forms part of the Luis J. Botifoll Oral History Project of the Cuban Heritage Collection, University of Miami Libraries.
