Luis J. Botifoll Oral History Project Interview with Martha del Pino and Sonia Díaz Miami, Florida, June 11, 2012 Interview 5212.0094 Interviewed by Julio Estorino Recorded by Javier Carrion Outline by Julio Estorino and Fernando Espino Interview with Martha del Pino and Sonia Díaz, two Cuban-American ballet dancers and instructors. The women were part of the world-famous ballet company of Fernando and Alicia Alonso in Cuba, touring around the world with their performance. After their exile, they founded the Academia Cubana de Ballet in Miami, instructing the next generation in the Cuban ballet style and becoming leaders of the artistic community.
