Jaffe The Nominating Committee and the Board of Directors of the College of Arts and Sciences Alumni Association are proud to present the CASAA officers for 1980. PRESIDENT STEPHEN J. HILL (A.B. 72), Associate Staff Manager at Southern Bell, Isa memberand Director of the Kiwanis Club of Doral, a member of UM Athletic Federation and a Director of the Young Alumni Club. He is past President and Vice President of University Services Organization, past Medicine Man for Iron Arrow, has served as Administrative Chairman, Carni-Gras Committee, UM Environmental Teach-in Coordinator (1970) and was listed in Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities (Fall 1969). He was elected to the position of president-elect of CASAA last fall but stepped in as President in the spring of 1979 when Bettye Lou Nicolaides resigned. PRESIDENT-ELECT PAUL J. ROBINSON (B.G.S. 74) is Vice president of Wash and Dry, Inc.; President of Southern Realty Services, Inc.; President of Wash and Dry Laundries and President of Your Nearest Travel Agent, Inc. He is a member of Phi Kappa Phi and Alpha Epsilon Rho. He is Vice President of CASAA and was Chairman of the 1979 Arts and Sciences Telephone Campaign. VICE PRESIDENT BARBARA K. BROWN (B.S. ’48) is a Founder at Mt. Sinai Hospital, and a Board Member of the UM School of Medicine’s Project Newborn. She serves as an area advisor for the National Panhellenic Council and chapter advisor of Alpha Epsilon Phi. She is also a member of Rho Lambda, the National Panhellenic Conference and the Metropolitan Museum and is a Past National President for Alpha Epsilon Phi. She is currently a Vice President of CASAA. VICE PRESIDENT IRV CABASSA (A.B. ’67) is Vice President of Personnel at Frank B. Hall and Company. He is a member of the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce and serves on the Board of Governors of the Personnel Association of Greater Miami. He is presently a Director on the CASAA Board. VICE PRESIDENT BERNARD R. JAFFE (A.B. ’51, J.D ’53) is a Judge of the County Court. He is a member of the Dade County, Florida and American Bar Associations; the American Judges Association and the American Judicature Society. He serves as a Director of the Dade Judicial College and Vice President of the Conference of County Court Judges of Florida as well as the Vice-Chairman of their Criminal Law Reform and Rules Committee. He is a memberof many community and fraternal organizations, serves on the Board of Trustees of the Multiple Sclerosis Society, the Here's Help Advisory Board, the Junior Orange Bowl Committee, is a Faculty advisor for the National College of State Judiciary and a Past Senior Counselor for United Commercial Travelers. He is currently a Director on the UM Law Alumni Association Board and the CASAA Board. Continued on Page 2 CASAA General Meeting Notice The next General Meeting of the College of Arts and Sciences Alumni Association will be held on Tuesday, September 11, at 7:30 p.m. in the Alumni House (1550 Brescia, just off Red Road). At that time the CASAA Board will report on and solicit suggestions for future activities. We’re also looking for volunteers to serve on several committees. Dr. Cesare Emiliani, Chairman of the Department of Geology, will be our guest speaker for the evening. He will talk about “Early Man in West Florida,” and current departmental research in Little Salt Spring. Hope to see you on September 11. R.S.V.P. 284-5363.
