For Faculty and St February 17,1964 Vol.4, No. 11 ‘GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY’ At this writing all faculty members should DRIVE LAUNCHED have received a memorandum from Presi- dent Stanford and the press release (both placed in mailboxes Friday morning, Feb. 14) announcing UM’s Golden Anniversary Development Program. During the years leading up to the University’s 50th birthday in 1975, it hopes to raise a total of $93,413,000 in construction and endowment funds. First priority has been given to the two buildings of the proposed Science Center and a six building Medical Center complex. Their total estimated cost is $36,843,000. “The University will make its greatest contributions to teaching and research and will face its greatest demands for resources during the decade before it celebrates its 50th anniversary,” Dr. Stanford said in announcing the drive. Faculty, staff and friends of the University will be kept abreast of the program as it moves forward in the coming months and years. 40 FACULTY TO MOVE UP Dr. Werner A. Baum, vice president for academic affairs and dean of faculties, has announced promotion in rank for forty faculty members, effective with their next regular appointment. They are: To Professor (9) - Dr, Frederick M, Bayer, marine science; Dr. Donald W. Calhoun, social sciences; Dr. Denis Cavanagh, obstetrics-gynecology; Dr. Mary O.
