Drivers during this test of skill were blindfolded, a navigator indicating the turns by hand signal. Thirty - five of the foreign model cars competed in the Gym Khana. a test of driving skill and sport car qualities, which lasted all Sunday afternoon. The contest was sponsored by Miami Sports Car club which was founded by U-M students a year ago. Shortly after the posting of campaign literature became legal after midnight Wednesday, arguments concerning favored posting spots reached a high pitch. Coral Gables police were called out to break up a mob of over 200 students milling around in front of the Student Club. Two major political parties, one settled in office for the past two years and the other a new organization that has been gathering more backers every day. will contest for student votes through the election days. Thursday and Friday. The contending parties, Student Action Association and Liberty Forum, have each set down their platforms for the coming school year. The entrenched SAA group endorses their candidates as the “most qualified” with the “most experience.” The Forum offers “a real two-party system” and was formed to “serve the individual student." A third party, Students for Independent Representation, decided not to select their own slate of candidates, but instead to back various persons from the two main parties. Ronald Fine. Liberty Forum SA presidential candidate, expressed the views of the Forum with. "The greatest desire of the Forum is to build an active student body with mature, purposeful functions which are participated in by all students regardless of affiliation." “The Forum promises to recruit, train and place, all interested students in their student government and its projects, and thereby build better spirit. The Forum believes the best student government is the one that represents all students all during the year,” he said.
