U-M Ugly Man To Be Chosen At Dance Tonight Story On Page 4 U-M Begins Immediate Acceptance Of Medical School Applications With building plans still unfinished, the University will begin accepting applications immediately for the Dade county medical school, according to a statement released yesterday by U-M President Dr. Bowman F. Ashe. Classes will begin in late September or early October, according to Dr. Ashe. Only 28 students will be accepted for the first semester. Twenty-six from Florida and two from out of state. Not more than five students from one county will be admitted to the U-M-operated medical school. Florida students must have legal proof of state and county residence. They must have lived with parents in this state for at least seven years. Medical school tuition will be $600. University officials urged students to check carefully the requirements for admission before making applications. Qualified students with three years of college may be eligible, but students with bachelors’ degrees will get preference. Students desiring application forms should send their names and addresses at once to Medical School, University of Miami, Coral Gables, Fla. The state, itself, has offered to pay Florida’s first accredited medical school $3,000 for each student up to a total of $225,000. This week's Honey is an 18-year-old freshman from Cleveland, O., and is majoring in government. Presently, however, Sally spends lots of time between studies and classes by swimming, dancing and piano playing. Her vital statistics include S feet. 2 inches tall. 108 pounds, blonde hair and blue eyes. Sally will he a beauty among beasts tonight as she receives her orchid at the Alpha Phi Omega “Ugly Man” contest dance in the Student Club patio.
