This was a repeat o( last year’s Sigma Chi serenading and from the girl’s expressions, even more successful. As the choral group paraded around the women's dorm area singing in PLANNING POLICY for the fall semester issues of editor; Ned Johnson, sports editor; Hank Bauer, The Hurricane is the new staff. There are stiU posi- Randell, advertising manager; Jane Carr, features tions available on all three UM publications. ---------The Inside Story — — - ------------------------- What They Are Saying . . . “A trend toward fewer veterans and a lower over-all enrollment is indicated by the first registration figures released by the UM registrar’s office,” the story on Page 3 explains. “Such a realization of community support meant much to Dr. Ashe and it meant much to his friends that he was given personal recognition which he not only never sought but stoutly resisted,” commented President Jay F. W. Pearson on the news that ground breaking of the Ashe Memorial building is set for Oct. 15. See Page 3. •> “Sometimes,” he said, “I feel like I’m not any use to anybody. But then I sing, and people like it and say so, and I feel better. It isn’t so bad to be little,” Gary Miller said in an interview this week. See Page 6, • “Everytime I turn around somebody wants more money,” a frantic frosh said. He waved an orange tag. “Look at the latest thing—a UM license plate—I don’t even have a car.” And he shuffled off muttering, “Now I have to buy a car to go with my license plate.” See first page Freshman Section, Page 11. “Big Mac (Frank McDonald) possesses all the qualities of an All-America end,” stated Andy Gustafson. He added, “Mac is one of the greatest all-around ends I have seen in the past decade.” See Page 24. * Photo by Starmr THUMBING THROUGH one of her textbooks is this semester's first Hurricane Honey, blonde, blue-eyed Roberta Weiner. A graduate of Miami senior high school. Bobhi is attending the University on a Dade County scholarship. This pert 17-year-old frosh has chosen music education as a major. She likes to sing in her spare time. Between halves of tonight’s Baylor clash in the Orange Bowl, Bobbi will receive the traditional orchid presented to each week's honey from Ned Johnson, Hurricane sports editor.
