The Canes received the coveted bid early in the week. Photo by Rudoff RALLY 'ROUND THE MAYPOLE, BOYS, seems to be the cry of greasy freshmen as they try to squirm past the sophs to the oily pole in the center (there’s a dink on top). The effort of the freshmen was not quite enough, however, cause the dink stayed there and frosh-soph field day ended in a 60-60 tie. U-M Allotted 7500 0B Tickets A total of 7,500 tickets has been allocated to the University for the New Year’s Day Orange Bowl clash between Miami and Ciemson. The amount was arranged and decided upon following a conference Tuesday afternoon among representatives of tbc school's departments, the student body and the alumni group. The individual breakdown of the ducats is: students, 3600, faculty and school employes, 600, alumni, 1100, University guests, (trustees, citizens advisory board, etc.), 500 and the athletic department, 1700. The 3600 Orange Bowl tickets for the students will be made available to them through a drawing method. Each successful applicant will be allowed to purchase only one ticket. Beginning today and up until Dec. 6 at 4 p.m., students may fill out applications for the drawing in the student activity office, Room 1 in the Student Club. The list of successful applicants will be posted Dec. 8 on the Student Club bulletin board. At 8:30 a.m., Dec. 11, the Administration building ticket office in Room 111, will be opened for students who are eligible to buy the ducats. Tickets will be sold until Dec. 14 at 4 p.m. Students must buy their own tickets. The only way for students to get seats together is to buy tickets at the same time. Tickets will cost $6.13 apiece or $3.68 for an end zone seat. There will be no public sale of tickets. The same method will be used to distribute the 600 tickets for the faculty and school employees. However, they are allotted two tickets per person. Faculty and employes may also fill out their applications today at the office of E. M. McCracken, University controller. They, too, will have until Dec. 5 at 4 p.m. to enter the drawing. The ticket list will be posted Dec. 8 in the Administration ticket office. The tickets must be purchaser! by this group during the same time and place students buy theirs. The 1100 alumni tickets will probably be distributed through alumni clubs, according to Carl Fien, alumni secretary. Fien also said that the tickets will be divided equally so that out-of-town alumni will get a fair share. Tickets for alumni will be held until a yet-to-be-determined deadline. Honey No. 10 Ptuxo by Fi'hcr A BIRTHDAY ORCHID GOES TO THE HURRICANE HONEY OF THE WEEK, who today reaches the venerable age of 18. Ruthe Falk, who has lived 13 of her many years in Miami Beach, is an enthusiastic DPhiE pledge. She’s on outs with the weather man for she allegedly hates cold weather. This 5 foot 4 inch bus-ed major tips the scales at only 122 pounds, although she claims good food is her favorite pastime. Other hobbies for this happy sophomore are dancing, volley ball and “sports in general.” Just come to the Orange Bowl Held tonight between halves of the U-M-Missouri game and Bert Goldberg will give you your Happy Birthday orchid.
