We’ll live to admit with all the hard-ihips that followed the banking holiday, reforms will follow which would not have come about in any other way. The New York Times reports that the Treasury Department is receiving hundreds of requests from the 11,000 state banks to become members of the Federal Reserve System. We will find that in a short time our banking will be under national control. Indications point toward a separation of functions in banking. Separate accounts will be required, for the savings, ocmmercial and investment business. This crisis was met with courage and determination on the part of our chief executive and an abundance of good humor by the American people. The major sports event since the triumphant victory of the Hurricane football team over Manhattan College, New Year’s Day, will be held this Saturday night at the Biscayne Arena, when the University of Miami wrestling team er gages the University of Florida in their third annual meet. The Hurricanes will present a well balanced team although lacking in experience. This meet is the result of unselfish efforts on the part of students of both institutions and their love of clean sports. At the University of Florida, operating expenses have been cut and it is only through Coach “Lindy” Lind-itrom and his matmen that the sport has been kept at the upstate university. The Florida boys are I Paying their own way down. Here ^ at the University of Miami, where the students have shown much interest in wrestling, similar circumstances exist. Money could not be secured to hold the meet, but a group of students were determines to see a wifstling meet held with j their state rivals. Jimmie Abras, has coached and organized a wrestling team which should battle Florida all the way. Harry Meigs, manager of the team, with the cooperation of other students, has worked out a plan whereby the meet could be held. The fraternities will be hosts to the Florida team while they are here and the alumni association is sponsoring the meet. Not satisfied with being able to hold the meet and admitting University students upon their student activity books, they are inviting as guests of the University the •enior boys of the local high •chools of the county and the Cadets from the Riverside Military academy.
