W ELCOYIE TO Ü. OF Campus Shift Offers Chance For Traditions Things will be a bit difficult for the first several weeks on the new campus. All of the University officers and the builders have given every possible effort to having things ready for you, but in spite of all efforts, things are not really ready. Be patient, have a sense of humor, and within a few weeks everything will straighten out. To all new students I extend a hearty welcome in the name of the old students, the faculty, the alumni, and the trustees of the University. There are so many of you that it will be difficult for us to get to know you. This is a comparatively new and rapidly growing community. This is a comparatively new University. We hope that you will join with the rest of us and help create a great new institution here. There is much to be done and great possibilities of personal development for you in the creation of new organizations, new traditions and all the things that go to make a University which you can remember with affection. The weather will change about the 15th of October. Make a note of this and remind me if it doesn't. B. F. ASHE, President of the University. To honor the occasion. Prof. Koch has arranged a formal opening night with admission by invitation only. IFC Announces Men's Rush Plans In many cases fraternity rush parties in past years have fallen on the same date that school dances are held. To overcome this, speci dates have been assigned to each fraternity to hold its rush parties this semester. Interfratemity council President, Robert High, says, "This year at the University of Miami we hope to have an organized fraternity rushing program." The program outlined for this year is as follows: fraternity rush parties will all be held during the two week period from Oct. 7 through 21. Each fraternity has been assigned three specific dates for its parties, and no fraternity may have a party except on the dates designated by the IFC. This year only second semester freshmen are eligible to be pledged to a fraternity, but since most veterans who are entering college, even for the first time, have more than 15 credits, many of these men are eligible to be pledged.
