This is the information received from the war department by the dean of men the last part of January. These enlistments will be made in the following categories, only: (a) Enlisted Reserve Corps, unassigned; and (b) Air Corps Enlisted Reserve for those who qualify for aviation cadet training under current standards. “Any man enlisted under this authority will not be ordered to active duty until he has attained his eighteenth birthday but in every instance will be ordered to active duty within six months after reaching his eighteenth birthday." Wiener Wants To Play Cards So Chief Justice Gets A Case Henry Wiener sues Harry Rinehart!!!! A late news scooper says that Henry N. demands his privileges as a University student; that he be allowed to play cards in the patio and slop shop whenever, wherever, and however he desires. It seems that the Senate passed a law last week that there shall be no more playing of cards in the slop shop between 11 and 1 and never ever in the patio. Henry N. LIBRARY NEWS A change in library hours has been announced by K. Malcolm Beal, librarian. In the future the library will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. instead of from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. as it was formerly. This new ruling will apply to every week-day except Friday when the library will i»ot open in the evening. Committee Decides To Award Trophy For Better Grades Despairing of ever working out a satisfactory system of awarding the Coffin trophy for extracurricular activity, the Organizations Committee decided this week to base the award on scholarship improvement. Fraternity grades for this year (Sept. 1942—June 1943) will be compared with those of the last year, and the sorority and the fraternity showing the greatest improvement will receive the award. The plan was devised by the organizations committee working with William C. Coffin, trustee of the University who is the donor of the trophy.—NOP Debaters Return From Stetson Trip Members of the debate team returned Sunday from John B. Stetjson University where they took pert in a slate wide forensic tournament. The University of Miami debaters were Sebastian Siati, Harvey Esin, Jake Watson, Ed Lewis, Vivian FeVf, Ra*ri Schorr, and Lee Carpenter. Aside from the debate Sebastian Sisti and Jake Watson entered the extemporaneous speeches and Harvey Klein participated in the after dinner speeches. Results of thè debates havt not been announced as yet.—LC rebels! He challenges the constitutionality of the act. He feels that after walking forty miles to the recently moved slop shop he should not be forced to remove his prized collection of 52 deckle-edged cards and donate his chair to some foolish contemporary who holds a package of cheese crackers in his hand and spills a cup of coffee (???) down his (H.N.W.’s) neck.
