While the actors perform in the "studio” the remainder of the class watches the scene on a monitor in the classroom. We are lucky to get him,” said Dr. Jay F. W. Pearson, UM president, of William Howland, newly appointed assistant to the president and public information director. Story on Page 14. The University’s Honors Courses to be initiated next fall are being planned so that the superior students enrolled in them “may reach thier full potential of development and contribute more to the nation’s critical need for superior ability in all fields of knowledge,!’ says Dr. E. Morton Miller, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, in a Page 3 story. “It is possible for students to quietly study together. Smoking will be permitted also” in the library’s new browsing room, announces Dr. Archie McNeil, director of libraries, in a Page 11 story. The Ring Theater presentation of “The House of Bernarda Alba” is a “credit to the University as well as to the people involved in its production,” writes Hurricane drama reviewer Hugh Barr, in a Page 4 review, “I dont know how many games we’ll win. But I don’t believe anybody’s going to shove us around,” says Head Football Coach Andy Gustafson in evaluating the Hurricanes’ chances for success next fall after one week of spring practice. Story on Page 16. “Today’s student must elevate the moral tone of politics and breathe spirit into Constitutional freedoms by practice and example,” says law student Sam Polur in a Page 6 guest editorial. “Old age begins and middle age ends, the day your descendants outnumber your friends,” said humorist Ogden Nash, the fifth speaker in the “Miami Presents” series. Story on Page 2. Photo by Cohan IN THE SHADE OF THINGS is freshman Deanna Briggs, who's Hurricane Honey No. 16. The 5-foot, 5-inch psychology major has brown hair and green eyes. A graduate of Miami Senior High School, Deanna is a member of Delta Zeta sorority. If Deanna will come to The Hurri-can office today at 3:30 p.m., Ron Ziegler, Hurricane assistant sports editor, will present her with an orchid.
