Story On Page 2 ----The Inside Story------------ What They Are Saying . .. “All girls who enter the contest will receive the cadet regimental crest” says William Winzurk, chairman of the Army ROTC queen contest, which closes tomorrow. Story is on page 4. “Laryngitis and high temperature” said Rudolph Bing in a wire to UM cancelling his scheduled “Miami Presents" appearance. Story on page 2. “Continually discouraging those people who have proven themselves to be capable leaders,” says Frank Dunbaugh, “will discourage the candidacies of competent persons.” He defends senate-seeker Joe Segor in a page 2 story. “The aims of the program are to acquaint new students with UM’s various organizations and to encourage greater participation in extra-curricular activities,” says Fred Porter, director of the Freshman Clinic. The story is on page 10. “Maybe more people than would care to admit are being educated in spite of themselves,” says the page 7 Debris in reference to the rise of educational TV. “You (UM) students of today should attend sports events, concerts, and the “Miami Presents” series. You don’t really appreciate such things until you’re stuck where there is so little,” says letter writer Jerry Coburn, former student now stationed in Texas. Column is on page 6. “The situation as it now stands is bringing about some bad incidents. When the rights of others, as well as the parking regulations are violated the car owner involved should be treated severely,” says a page 6 editorial on parking. “Drivers should investigate local car inspection regulations,” says another Cane editorial, page 6. ENHANCING the scenic beauty of the campus is Gloria De Moya, Hurricane Honey No. 13. The 19-year-old sophomore history maior Is S feet, 7 inches and has brown hair and eyes. Her “titles" include Phi Mu Alpha sweetheart. Queen of the Americas and queen of the Army ROTC. If Gloria will come to The Hurricane office today at 3 p.m., Fred Porter, managing editor, will present her with an orchid.
