I consider it a privilege to belong to a team which has established an operation recognized as being the most reliable and comfortable means of transportation in the Pacific area. It is the skill and effort contributed by each member of this team that is responsible for this record and I look forward to a continuation of this individual performance in confidence that thereby we will within limits of our revenues, continue to improve our product during 1948, staying well in the lead of all Pacific operators, not only in our own opinion but in the opinion of the public we serve as well.” H. E. GRAY Transfers in Alaska Traffic Staff Switch Men to Pacific Several transfers in the Alaska Region traffic staff were announced this month. Don McKowan .former member of the traffic department Ketchikan-Annette, has moved /o Wake Island. John Moe, has gone from Juneau to Reservations. Los Angeles, and former DTM at Juneau, Douglas MacKenzie has been transferred to Manila. Marina Gymnasium Closed for Holidays; Opens January 7 The Marina Gym which is a popular hang-out for PAA-ers every Wednesday evening is closed for the holidays and will re-open on Wednesday, January 7. Usually 20 to 30 PAA S. F. personnel take advantage of the badminton, volley ball, basketball and other recreational facilities offered. First Ski Week-End Set For January 16,17,18 Madge McWilliams, Nadine Arnson Working Out Details With Madge McWilliams and Nadine Arnson, two ski enthusiasts, acting as co-chairmen, the first 1948 San Francisco Panair Club Ski Week-End promises to be the usual success. The co-chairmen announce that the first week-end will convene at Donner Summit on January 16, 17, and 18. To sign-up for the big party call Madge on Local 366 or Nadine on extension 409. And while you are calling they would like to know the answers to the following questions, so be prepared to answer: 1. What place or places do you prefer (there is going to be three trips this year) ? 2. Do you have transportation ? If so, how many will your car carry ? 3. Do you have equipment such as skiis, boots, etc? If not what sizes are needed for rental ? 4. Would you prefer to go by bus PAA San Francisco Cafeteria Closed One Holiday—Xmas The people who work every other holiday of the year will have Christmas off. We’re speaking of the Pan American San Francisco cafeteria staff. This means, naturally, the cafeteria will not be open Christmas Day. There will be some, a limited number, who must stand duty at Panamville, San Francisco on Christmas Day. It will be an inconvenience not to have the facilities of the cafeteria available. But, remember, your being inconvenienced will give a dozen people an opportunity to spend Christmas with their family and friends. Friday evening returning Sunday evening if you do not have a private car, or would you prefer to go by charter airplane Saturday morning? As the Clipper went to press, the co-chairmen had no definite rates to announce for the first week-end.
