The num ber of passengers carried d u rin g th e first six m onths of 1935 w as 79,269, as a g a in st 55,297 fo r th e same period of 1934, rep rese n tin g an increase of 44% . P assen ger m iles have also increased su b stan tially over th e same m onths of la s t year, w ith 40% m ore round trip tickets being sold th is year th a n last. The num ber of executives of im p o rta n t A m erican or ganizations engaged in fo r eign tra d e who have traveled over the in te rn atio n a l airlines in 1935 have so f a r doubled in volume over any previous y ea r’s record, indicatin g the active drive being m ade fo r foreign tra d e recovery. A p proxim ately 78% of all traffic over th e System is “com mer cial”— executives, salesm en or officials trav e lin g on business assignm ents.
