Monthly Operational Bulletin To: All Pan Am Flight Attendants From: In-Flight Service Headquarters - MIA : VOLUME XVI, Issue 6 June 1986 Dear Fellow Employees: I am pleased to inform you that Pan Am and the IUFA have reached an agreement on a Flight Attendant sales incentive program in conjunction with the sale of in-flight duty free items. The agreement provides for the entire Flight Service crew to earn bonus points based on the gross sales of duty free items per flight. Pursers will receive an additional 20 percent in points as compensation for their added administrative responsibilities. E. F. MacDonald, a highly respected and experienced firm in the field of incentive development and administration will manage our incentive program, “PASSPORT TO PRIZES.” You will receive information about this program in the coming weeks. Included in this information package will be a merchandise catalogue from which you can order items in exchange for the bonus points you have earned on your duty free flights. The contract signed between Pan Am and InFlight Duty Free Shops, Inc. (IDFS), an outside, independent vendor, requires that IDFS shall provide a sales incentive program for Flight Attendants. It also provides that IDFS will, with Pan Am approval, supply and load the duty free inventory prior to, and collect the unsold inventory and the sales proceeds at the end of each sector. Pan Am will receive a percentage of the gross sales proceeds. This program not only makes Pan Am more competitive with other international carriers, but also provides some revenue to offset the reductions in passenger loads which you have witnessed on your flights in recent weeks. Duty free procedures were tested on flights between New York and London during the month of April. Within the past two weeks, duty free sales were expanded to flights between New York and Zurich and New York and Nice. You will receive a duty free procedures package in your mailbox within the next ten days to two weeks. Please read and retain this package of information as the duty free program will soon be expanded to other international flights. We acknowledge and appreciate the input of those of you who participated in the test program. The procedures you will receive incorporate many of your suggestions to the Flight Service Trackers. We expect to continue to modify our procedures as we gain experience on more sectors and therefore will continue to solicit your suggestions. Finalized procedures will be incorporated into the Flight Service Handbook. Since its initiation, this program has demonstrated its potential to enhance service to our passengers while at the same time benefiting you and our Company. We know that we can count on your continuing support. J. Robert Juliano LhSû34I„ ñCC 1,06^y7^-, Folder /IJ
