/m< c r Monthly Operational Bulletin VOLUME XVII, Issue 12 December 1987 To: All Pan Am Flight Attendants From: In-Flight Service Headquarters - MIA Dear Fellow Employees: corporate library JAN 4 1938 PAN AMERICAN WORLD AIRWAYS Traditionally, as the new year approaches we look back over the year which is ending — 1987 emerges as a year filled with challenges. The year began with our goal of “Simply Superior Service.” The main concern for Flight Service was consistency — eliminating the breakdown in the delivery of the designed service. With your cooperation and the cooperation of many other employees in our Company, our service HAS improved as evidenced by comments from passengers, travel agents and commercial accounts. Renewed emphasis was placed on corporate image throughout Pan Am. New color schemes and designs were created for our aircraft exteriors and interiors, menu covers, ticket covers and ticket jackets, timetables, etc. All our aircraft will reflect these changes when the program is completed. The new corporate image program is a demonstration of our professionalism, our distinctiveness and our commitment to an identity which is recognizably and unmistakably Pan Am. A new advertising campaign with the slogan “Expect More From Pan Am” was launched. Pan Am employees are featured in television advertisements with the message being the value of flying Pan Am — our service value and our price value. Increased bookings and heavy passenger loads have prevailed throughout the year. The improvement in our North Atlantic traffic has contributed significantly to one of the best financial performances this Company has had in many years. A financially stronger Pan Am will enable us to continue to grow and to prosper. The decision this year to hire 800 new Flight Attendants by the summer of 1988 is representative of our plans for future growth and success. The recruiting and training program has already produced 125 Flight Attendants who are or will be flying by the end of this month. Their enthusiasm and conscientiousness are a pleasure to witness and I ask you to share your expertise with our new employees when you work with them. Other 1987 milestones include our return to Madrid, Shannon and Honolulu and startup in Guayaquil, San Diego and Salt Lake City. Growth signals success. By continuing to work together towards meeting the challenges, 1988 will be an even more productive and successful year. Best Wishes for a joyous holiday season! c J. Robert Juliano
