FOR THE PERSONNEL OF ALASKA DIVISION PAN AMERICAN AIRWAYS MI cannot let the old year run out without expressing to you my personal appreciation, and the appreciation of the company, for the truly fine contribution you have made during the past year in the furtherance of the war effort. ”l wish, as I am sure you all do, that we could expect the end of the 'war in the foreseeable future so that we could again turn our attention to our peacetime task of serving the public, and helping to build a better world through the advancement of trade and understanding between peoples. It is evident to all, however, that many days and months, and perhaps even years of hardship, sacrifice and hard work — yes, and even the horrors of fighting and death — lie ahead of us before that time will come. ’’Let us do our utmost to speed the war's end through an earnest effort to devote our wholehearted attention to our respective jobs. We can consider ourselves most fortunate in that we are privileged to contribute directly to the war effort through the job we are doing for the armed forces. It has not been an easy task to adjust ourselves to war-time and military requirements. But let us remember that during the war we must accept with unaltering faith the wisdom and guidance of military authorities in our fight to defeat our enemies. Should we fail to operate in full conformance with military needs, we would fail in our duty to ourselves and to our country. I can think of no worse stigma than failure in that duty. ’’Therefore, let us resolve that during this coming year we shall make whatever adjustments are necessary, speedily and willingly; that we shall approach our tasks individually and collectively with a cheerfulness and determination that cannot be denied; and that we shall devote ourselves wholeheartedly to doing the best job we know how, to the end that we may look back on our accomplishments with pride. ’’With best personal wishes for a successful and Happy Hew Year to you all.’’ Vol. 1 Ho. 20 January 1, 1944 LET US RESOLVE Ç.
