Pan American Airways System 1 109 Connecticut Avenue RULES AND REGULATIONS RESERVATIONS: Fare must be paid immediately upon confirmation of the fact that the space to be reserved is available, and unless so paid the reservation will not be held. A flight coupon will not be validated for passage unless reservation of accommodation has been previously effected and proper fare paid. PASSPORTS tx VISES: Passengers must possess valid passports and/or other certificates required by the laws of the countries to be flown from, over, or into. These requirements vary in many countries; therefore, passengers are requested, when making reservations, to consult the Carrier’s nearest office, travel agent or consulate of countries to' be visited. None of the Carriers will be responsible for passengers entering countries without proper credentials. TAXES: Any ticket taxes imposed by governmental authority are in addition to transportation fare and will be collected wherever effective. STOPOVERS & LIMITS: Stopover privileges may be arranged for at time reservations are requested. One way tickets will be valid for transportation for 60 days from date of initial departure, and round trip tickets for 4 months from such date, unless under tariff at which ticket is sold other limits are imposed. CHILDREN’S FARES: A child in arms under two years of age will be carried free when accompanied by parent or a guardian and provided parent or guardian has paid effective fare. A child 2 years of age or over, but under 12, may travel at half of the standard adult fare and may occupy a seat. BAGGAGE ALLOWANCE & EXCESS CHARGES: Baggage in excess of the free allowance permitted by the current regulations of the Carriers will be carried only when the capacity of the aircraft permits, and when excess charges shall have been paid. When the one-way value of passage ticket is $100.00 U. S. Cy. or less, 15 kilos (33 lbs.) of hand baggage will be carried free of charge thereunder; when the one-way value of passage ticket is between $101.00 and $200.00 U. S. Cy. inclusive, 20 kilos (44 lbs.) will be carried free thereunder; or when the one-way value thereof is $201.00 U. S. Cy. or over, 25 kilos (55 lbs.) will be carried free. When tickets are purchased in other currencies, the free baggage allowance will he determined according to the U. S. Cy. tariff for the corresponding passage. One-way tickets only, when purchased in advance, will govern the above allowances according to their value; the value of round-trip tickets will not increase the allowance over the amount permitted, oh the going portion of a round trip. On circle trips where there is no “going” destination, the “one-way value” of tickets will be one-half the sum of the one-way U. S. Cy. tariff fares on the passage route. Excess baggage over the above allowances will be charged for at 1% of the standard adult one-way tariff fare per kilo (2.2 lbs.) On stopover tickets, excess baggage charges will be collected at 1% of the adult tariff fare per kilo (2.2 lbs.) for the passage between stopover points. Children traveling on half-fare tickets will receive one-half the baggage allowance granted on full fare tickets, but their excess baggage will be charged at the full tariff rate. Children under two years of age will receive no free allowance. The above free allowances apply only on Pan American Airways System and Associated Carriers whose services are shown herein. However, such free allowances will also be honored by certain air carriers within the United States, provided through passage is purchased in advance; the distance to be flown on such carriers, however, does not increase the corresponding allowance. Ask any office or agent regarding shipment of trunks. Example of Articles which Baggage Allowances Will Permit: For the average man a lightweight aeroplane fibre bag will usually accommodate the following personal articles: TOTAL WEIGHT, 15 KILOS OR 33 LBS.—2 suits, 4 shirts, 4 underwear, ties, socks, collars, handkerchiefs, 2 pairs of shoes, toilet articles, miscellaneous. TOTAL WEIGHT, 20 KILOS OR 44 LBS.—3 suits (two light—one heavy), 6 shirts, 6 underwear, collars, ties, socks, handkerchiefs, 2 pairs of shoes, toilet articles, miscellaneous. TOTAL WEIGHT, 25 KILOS OR 55 LBS.—5 suits (four light—one heavy), 8 shirts, 8 underwear, collars, ties, socks, handkerchiefs, 3 pairs of shoes, toilet articles, miscellaneous. PACKING BAGGAGE: On trips where overnight scheduled stops are to be made, baggage should be packed so that it will be necessary to remove only one bag from plane at overnight stop. Such baggage should be tagged with a yellow tag. Other baggage not needed at overnight stops will be stowed in the “hold” and should be tagged with blue tag. Yellow and blue tags for this purpose will be supplied to passengers with their tickets and it is requested that baggage be properly marked in order to avoid any delay or inconvenience. BAGGAGE VALUATION: None of the Carriers shall be liable for loss of, damage to, or delay .in transportation or delivery of baggage not occasioned by its or their negligence. The liability of the Carriers for baggage shall in no event exceed the agreed value of $100 U. S. Cy. (upon which valuation the fare paid is in part based), unless a higher valuation shall be agreed upon by separate written contract, and additional charges paid on the basis thereof, and in that event shall not exceed such higher valuation. None of the Carriers shall be liable in any amount for articles which do not constitute baggage as such term is defined by law. CLAIMS: No claim will be considered unless made in writing to an office of the Carrier on whose lines the claim arises and within ten days after loss or damage occurs. EMBARKATION NOTICE: Passengers must arrive at the airport sufficiently in advance of the scheduled departure of the airplane to permit the completion of governmental and other formalities and the checking of baggage. CANCELLATIONS & REFUNDS: The Passenger may obtain refund of unused fare for passage (a) from origin to destination, (b) from origin to any stopover point, (c) from any such stopover point to any other such stopover point, or (d) from any such stopover point to destination, less all expense occasioned in effecting reservation and cancellation of passage, provided the unlifted Flight Coupon or Coupons for such passage, together with the Identification Coupon, are surrendered to one of the Carriers, and provided notice of cancellation of passage is given to one of the Carriers on the route not later than twenty-four hours immediately prior to the scheduled commencement of the initial flight of any such passage. If such notice is received within such period of twenty-four hours, a deduction including such reservation and cancellation expense will be made at an amount equal to ten per cent (10%) of such unused fare. If such notice is received, or if the passenger arrives at the airport of departure, after the commencement of passage reserved, a deduction from refund will be made at an amount equal to twenty-five (25%) of such unused fare. Refunds will be made only by authorized accounting offices of the Carrier from which tickets have been purchased. Ticket agents are not authorized to make refunds. TICKETS: Tickets and flight coupons are not transferable and shall be valid only for the person, named as passenger in the Identification Coupon, and for the period of time therein specified, and for the flight or flights for which the reservation or reservations have been made.
