FÆii ÆffEKiCÆ KOKLO MKMYS NOo 8 OCTo 19^5 AN ATLANTIC DIVISION TRAFFIC BULLETIN October OUR DC4**s ARE HER E88 s$i This is the news that we have been striving to give you in the Revenev/s, and now it is facto Already, the first DC~U (Army ^ m made a route check flight to Gander, Shannon, Kurn, Bovingdon* PortelaV Santa Maria and Bermuda© The second route check flight is scheduled to leave tomorrow morning and will include stops at alternate airports along the northern routo« Of the total of eight DG'--ij.&£a which have been allocated to us by the Army through the medium of surplus property, only two are actually at North Beach at this writ« ings the balance are either undergoing modifications in the Douglas Aircraft Plant at Santa Monica, California, or are en route to other modification factories« The first of these aircraft is expected to be ready for its NC (commercial) license by the middle of October© Vie can«t, today, give you a specific date for inauguration of services, but the day is imminent and no tin© can be lost in preparing yourselves lo to provide the loads for these aircraft, and 2o to have yourselves fully prepared for the passenger handling routines, which must be consistent with our best standards from the outset© «SS#******# Joe Raviol (Flight Service Superintendent) and Charlie Cole (Assistant to Traffic Manager) went along as Passenger Service arid Traffic representatives on the first route check flight* and returned here with full enthusiasm for the aircraft* for the satisfactory ground facilities (with few exceptions) that will be available upon the inauguration of land plane services* and finally reported on the eagerness of line station Traffic personnel to really do a job with this new equipment.. While all of you know we hold route certificates right through to India, it appears that in the first stages of land plane operations, we will concentrate our attentions! lo to the northern route 2o the middle Atlantic route* and 3o the Lati services © .Inauguration of service to India will follow and finally, in the last stage, we will commence operations to our certified points on the European continent» s$c >}: ** * LvvbOMt hx\, ßcx 84 , \"o\der IS 3
