Laurette Jean 2 September 23, 2013 INTERVIEW OUTLINE − 00:00:13: Introduction − 00:00:39: This is a journey, and as all journeys, we’re going to start at the beginning. Please tell us about your childhood, birthplace, parents, and family environment. − 00:02:28: You write in Kreyòl? − 00:02:50: Do you have any siblings? − 00:03:06: Growing up, tell us about your experience. I’m curious, because you’re one of the three or four younger generation that’s part of this archive [oral history project], and I think it’s an experience that needs to be shared. So, growing up here in the U.S…. when you step outside, you’re American or Haitian-American. You step inside, you’re Haitian-Haitian. Tell us a little bit about that experience. − 00:09:58: Who would you say was the most influential person in your life? − 00:12:08: Being of Haitian descent, how does that influence your perception and view of your work? How does that impact your work? − 00:13:50: You attended college. What did you study and where? − 00:14:57: In your work right now, you are a Principal Management and Budget Analyst… of the Office of Management and Budget [of Broward County]. How does that relate to your degree? − 00:16:41: So, you’re on track. Do you like what you’re doing? − 00:17:17: We’re going to switch now to your cultural life and your community life. You are the treasurer and principle dancer of the Louinès Louinis Theater. Please describe how you became involved with the dance company. − 00:18:36: What are your most memorable performances with the group? − 00:21:25: Since you’ve been dancing with the company for ten years, tell us what you think the mission is, and how you see yourself supporting it, or LLHDT [Louinès Louinis Haitian Dance Theater]? − 00:24:08: I know you also do other community work. Some of this work is quite well known. Please describe some of that for us – which organization did you lend your talent and your time, and why did you do it? − 00:30:00: With all of these things you’ve done, which one are you most proud of? Laurette Jean 3 September 23, 2013 − 00:31:44: I know you have two beautiful little girls. Where do they stand in there? − 00:34:11: Where do you see yourself in 10 years? − 00:38:18: Is there anything you’d like to talk about that I did not cover? Something that you think should be part of this archive? − 00:42:43: END OF INTERVIEW
