Summary	Volume one of a two volume set in which the authors give historical and pictorial information on the Alhambra Palace. The name in Arabic means "red fortress" and it is an exquisite example of Moorish architecture built by the Moorish rulers of Granada in southern Spain in the area known as Andalusia. After the expulsion of the Arabs from the Iberic Peninsula by the Catholic rulers, Fedinand and Isabella, the Christians occupied the palace and several modifications were made to the building and the gardens
